Can SMS client Roam to a Foreign SMS site?

I am curious as to the possiblity that an Advanced client, if placed in a foreign SMS environment, would "Roam" to that site?
What prevents the client from connecting to another SMS server and site?

it depends if you have the site Assigned or as AUTO. You can set the client configuration with a defined SITE and defined point to contact through the installation switches of the client.
