I'm in the process of building out my new CE 8.5 server. We are migrating from SI 7.5. I currently have SI 7.5 installed on my workstation. Can I installed the client tools for 8.5 and not effect my Si 7.5 install?

I want to get started on development and setting everything up, all the while maintaining my current 7.5 install until we're ready to roll over.

Thanks.

What client tools do you speak of?

I think that you'll find yourself in deep kim chee if you try that, see if you can get another system up and running, and then use the Crystal Import Wizard with CE 8.5 to get started.

it may not be the best idea if it is for production, but Info and CE can run on the same machine, as long as Info is installed first.

Thanks to you both!

I have an SI 7.5 server and a new CE 8.5 server that I'm in the process of getting up an going. I have SI 7.5 also installed on my laptop so I can connect to my 7.5 server (APS) and manage schedules and do some report design.

I'd like to be able to install just the client tools (not the full CE) for 8.5 on my laptop so I can do the same type of work (scheduling and management tasks) for my new 8.5 install remotely.

Guess I'll go for it and see how it goes. :)

And would anyone know about CR 9.0? Can that be installed along side my SI 7.5/CR 8.0 installation?

Thanks again!

To clarify, you have the SI 7.5 tools, such as SI Desktop and SI Admin installed on your laptop. The only installable client tools available for CE management are the Import Wizard for migration, Publishing Wizard for reports, and the Config Mgr for server/service management. All other tools are web-based. There is no issue with their installation on a machine with the above-mentioned SI tools.

I am putting in my input, because I think you were asking about the tools and not the server product. Rod Oatis

Hi Deej,

As to your question about CR 9.0, Crystal says that CR 9.0 does not work with CE 8.5.0.806 (current GA release) or earlier versions. You'll need to stick with CR 8.5. I got this info from their knowledgebase.

Well, that makes a lot of sense! I'm going to have to check that out...

Thanks Keith!
