I have 1 user out of 140 that is unable to receive e-mails but he is able to send them. He is using outlook 2003. I have deleted and recreated his account on his machine and rebooted his machine but I haven't tried to reboot the server yet since backups are currently running. Anything off of the top of your head that could resolve this short of a server reboot??

Make sure the user has a valid smtp address in their exchange properties.

looks like the user had tried to send a 200MB file and it got stuck and clogged up the network (come to find out that it would take about 1/2 hour for messages to get delivered to other peoples accounts also)...ended up deleting his account and recreating it (and restoring all of his mail)...seemed to be the only way to actually get it out of the queue...anyway, thanks for the suggestions.

I'm seeing a similar problem, but no one is sending 200 MB files.

A new mailbox can send emails but can not receive emails, except locally from other users on the network. I am more knowledge with Exchange 5.5, but can move through 2000 a-okay. Checking the mailbox queues and the badmail, I do not see the messages waiting to be routed (System Manager>Administrative Groups>First Administrative Group>Servers>THEBRAIN (our server)>Protocols>SMTP>Defualt SMTP Virtual Server>Queues). I have sent a few test messages from inside the network and from my Yahoo account and none arrive in the mailbox and no bounce back.

I have poured over all the SMTP settings and the users mailbox settings, deleted and recreated the mailbox, and tested again and again. It feels like Iam missing something, but everything appears to be setup correctly. Any help or suggestions welcome.

.:TUCK:.

Found out that all the email addressed to this mailbox was getting delivered to another mailbox. Not sure if the mailbox that they got delivered to is setup to be the 'catch-all' for the domain. Does anyone know how I can check that?

.:TUCK:.
