I can ping my router but cannot access the buit-in GUI setup page in the router, alltrough I see the LANT and LANR lights flashing. It is a flowpint 2025 router for DSL. I can access the router with hypertrm trought the com ports, asign a IP address and new password, activate the DHCP but can't reach the router with the quick install program downloaded from Can anyone help me out here ? Thank you very much, David.

David,

This is really clutching at straws!! Is there any chance the computer you are attempting to use to configure the router is running Win98 and has the Personal Web Server and FrontPage98 installed? From the Config Manager readme:

There is a Win98 install bug that may block connecting to the router using GUI
after installing Win98 with Personal Web server and Front Page 98.
The Personal Web server installs a down rev version of the winsock.dll into
the \Windows directory. Copy the \windows\winsock.old file to the \dsl
directory and rename it winsock.dll as a work around.

There is a reset but it does not appear to be a simple press of a button or switching it off and on. It is documented in the Readme in the section regarding Recovering Kernels.

At this point, I'd suggest cutting your losses and using the CLI to configure the device. You can get the CLI Reference from the Efficient Networks web site. There is a pretty succinct discussion of what needs to be set for different types of configurations.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Two things I noticed and I just was curious. Your frame type was a 802.2. I use 802.3 or auto, but I don't know what the unit was that was using 802.2, it may be correct, I don't know. Also on my router I use 192.168.254.254:88. Have you tried that? (I'm just as new to routers as you, just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth, and that's all it's worth.) Glen A. Johnson
