Well, for one thing, it looks like your system is toolbar crazy - Ask, Yahoo, at least one Acer one I think, and maybe others?

Also, this one SOUNDS like it could be legitimate, but from a quick search, there isn't much known about it from what I can tell so far:
O2 - BHO: Search Helper - {6EBF7485-159F-4bff-A14F-B9E3AAC4465B} - C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Search Enhancement Pack\Search Helper\SEPsearchhelperie.dll

If you can go to Programs and Features, try removing Microsoft Enhanced Search... or something like that.

Also, you might want to take a look at:
- generally a very good tool for removing a bunch of the stuff that comes preinstalled on systems - it'd help you get rid of a lot of stuff with just a click or two - if you want to. It's not a mawlare remover.

On this item:
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [BitTorrent DNA] "C:\Users\Garry\Program Files\DNA\btdna.exe"

Do you do Torrent/file sharing? If not, I'd check into what this is further... I would THINK you'd want to remove it if you aren't filesharing.

If you are filesharing, you may want to discontinue, or at least remove that software for now, to lessen your risks until the issue is resolved.

-----------------------------------------------------

In case there is any malware lurking, see if you can install and run Malwarebytes Antimalware on the system - download from
----------------------------------------------------

Unless you absolutely want Quicktime and ITunes running in the background, I'd remove these 2:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe"

It won't hurt anything... or you can disable them from MSConfig.

----------------------------------------------------

O9 - Extra button: Sky - {08E730A4-FB02-45BD-A900-01E4AD8016F6} - (file missing)

What is sky.com? If you don't know, I'd suggest removing.

-----------------------------------------------------

I may have missed it, but I didn't see ANY antivirus installed. Frankly, if that is true, you're a sitting duck anyway..... If it were me, I'd reinstall (if possible) - restore from a restore partition/disk, or clean install, whatever...

If you want to go the reinstall route, here's my suggestion:

Restore your system to factory default OR clean install if you have a Windows disk.

If you restore to factory default, make sure your drivers are up to date, and Windows is up to date, and then install an antivirus app: I prefer Avira Antivir, personally, you can go with what you like - look around here for opinions, whatever..

Then download and get rid of all of the Acer stuff, and other stuff that you don't use. This alone will let you see a decent performance increase.

If you want to download a series of freeware apps for various activities, go look at and click what you like, download the installer, and watch it work.

If you don't have a router, get one - that really should be the #1 item... It'll offer you lots of protection..

If you're doing any filesharing stuff, you REALLY need to do some more research and learning into security. file sharing opens up lots more stuff than just normal computing and web browsing... and with it, you can also directly download all sorts of baddies, even if you don't get compromised by the basic security risks...

Let us know how you get going, or how you want to proceed...

Also, I noticed you've been on tek-tips for about 1 1/2 years, posted about 80 new threads (besides replies), and yet you've only found the advice given to you helpful on 2 occasions. The way this site is setup is based on how helpful threads are to folks - helps others look for the answers they need. So, keep that in mind for your future questions (as well as past questions - you can always go back and acknowledge something as helpful, even if the thread is closed.. or so it seems.

Anyway, let us know your progress..
