and the xp: 192.168.3.11

i do ping from win98 or xp to another, and all is fine.
but, i can not browse to any file sharing to any other.
what is happing, when i do click in the network place, only show my computer...

can any help me plseasssssl

yes, both are the same workgroup, and have the tcp/ip working

it's simple kids. turn on file and print sharing for microsoft networks from the properties page of your network connection.

no, i will enable now,
but, nothing happens

if the computers truly are a part of the same workgroup, and you can ping both ways, I would say that it comes down to the file and print sharing clients. I say this because the connection is clearly good between them. I would assume that you have tried pinging both IP addresses and hostnames to make sure that your dns/netbios caches are good. If one computer cannot be seen by the other in network neighborhood(my network places), it would be my assumption that they are not using the sharing client. try blowing out the LAN connection on both computers and then building it back up from scratch.

is there a known issue between 98 file sharing clients and xp? i don't think so, but not 100% sure.....

For 98 to access XP.

Guest Account (Computer Management/ Local Users and Groups/ Users/ Properties) must be enabled on XP machine (maybe not necessary if identical usernames on machine).

To connect to XP set it (XP) to use Simple File Sharing (Folder Options/ View).

Share a folder.

For XP to access 98.

Share a folder on 98.

To share a folder, right-click on the Properties and use the Sharing tab.

Simple File Sharing- enabled

Simple File Sharing - disabled
