HELP,

I've inherited a disorganised network at my new work. They've got a CISCO 800 router for the DSL line and a Linksys BEFSR41 plugged into that. The problem is I want to put MRTG on the network to examine that traffic and I'm having problems. I can ping all the PCs, Servers, Routers etc on the LAN, but can't connect to the Linksys via Web browser and my MRTG config script doesn't recognise the routers IP.
The servers are Win 2K, and clients XP Pro.

Anybody got any ideas, it's driving me mad

Thanks

The default settings for the Linksys are 192.168.1.1, if you can't browse it by using that address then maybe the previous installation used a different IP, if you power the network down then press the reset button on the router it should reset to factory defaults. (Defaults NO username and ADMIN as password)

The FAQ's on are very good for any information that you might require.

This is a link to more info for you.

Thanks Johnodq, it is a different IP, but I have it, can ping it but still can't connect to the Router via IE to configure it.

Will try switching it off when I can get some down time.

Thanks

reconfigure your internet options.. set local intranet security to medium low.. if that does not work.. try another browser ( eg. netscape )or another computer.. try also a computer that has lower IE version like 5.0 or 5.5 ...
