I'm am new to AIX and for some reason the system will not see all the memory loaded on the box. Please note:

# bootinfo -r
2228224

# lscfg -vp
****copy and paste the Memory section*****

Looks like the lpar only has 2G, but as you don't know which 2G lscfg lists all the memory in the box. I've noticed the same with processors, an lpar may only have one of 16 processors but lscfg shows all 16.

As all CCIN numbers are the same and you MUST have some non COD memory we can be sure none is COD / CUoD so I can only think it is an LPAR with 2GB assigned.

type lparstat -i as root and paste the output please

HTH,

Thank you p5wizard
Here's the output:
Node Name : XXXXXXX
Partition Name : XXXXXXX
Partition Number : 1
Type : Dedicated-SMT
Mode : Capped
Entitled Capacity : 2.00
Partition Group-ID : 32769
Shared Pool ID : -
Online Virtual CPUs : 2
Maximum Virtual CPUs : 2
Minimum Virtual CPUs : 1
Online Memory : 7808 MB
Maximum Memory : 8192 MB
Minimum Memory : 128 MB
Variable Capacity Weight : -
Minimum Capacity : 1.00
Maximum Capacity : 2.00
Capacity Increment : 1.00
Maximum Physical CPUs in system : 2
Active Physical CPUs in system : 2
Active CPUs in Pool : -
Unallocated Capacity : -
Physical CPU Percentage : 100.00%
Unallocated Weight : -

I was told that in order to allocate the extra 8GB of memory to the LPAR that currently sees 8GB the HMC needs to be updated to the latest version. The current version I have is:

Version 4
Release: 3.1
HMC Build Level 20041115.1
MH00186: LIC Update Fix (11-19-2004)

Thanks,
jpm

Also compare the output of

lsattr -E -l sys0|grep mem

and your

bootinfo -r

output.

lparstat shows 8GB minus the LPAR/pHYP memory overhead, seems normal to me:
Online Memory : 7808 MB
Maximum Memory : 8192 MB
Minimum Memory : 128 MB

HTH,

Note: topas will also indicate server or partition memory size: look for MEMORY section on the right hand side of the screen, halfway down.
