Can office20003 run in terminal server?

Hi there,

I installed evaluation version of office2003 on evaluation version of w2k3 server with terminal server installed, it said "this copy of ms office cannot be used in terminal server, please contact your local authorised ms retailer for more info"

I removed terminal server, installed office2003, can run.
Thne I re-installed terminal server, office2003 cannot run with the above message.

Just wondering was it due to my evlauation version? Or office2003 really cannot run on terminal server?

Hi

No idea why you had the problem but we run office 2003 as terminal services for our remote connections to a w2k3 SBS. So it does work - most of the time at least!

Office 2003 CAN run on Terminal Server, but you need to install it with special steps which can be found here:

How to Install Office 2003 on a Computer That Is Running Windows Terminal Server

If it still fails, then I would agree its most likely due to the limitations of the trial software.

By the way, When I was installing TS 2K3 earlier this year, I went through much blood sweat and tears to sort out CALs, etc. I put all of it in an FAQ though. It might be useful, especially if MS still haven't sorted out their CAL management on 2K3 server TS yet.
