I just allowed automatic updates to install all outstanding updates which it found.

I can no longer control or view computers which I had been able to using Remote Desktop Assistance. Other computers can control and view my desktop, however.

When I am sent an invitation I see nothing. The sending computer sees the normal text, waiting for me to connect.

I verified we are both using the same versions of Windows Messenger (I will provide version in a future post if it is needed).

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

I find many sites full of troubleshooting tips but have not come across this problem yet (no message on my screen, works in one direction only).

Thanks for any help.

David

What firewall are you using? Some Anti Virus suites have hidden firewalling components.

Have a look through some of these when you've got the time.

Thanks linney. I'll take a look through the links.

In response to your question, no software firewalls are in use.

I just checked the hardware firewall and noticed port 3389 is not being forwarded. Remote Assistant was working before with this configuration but I will try it again with that port activated.

I'll reply again after reviewing the links you provided.

Regards,

David
