Hi everyone !

I`ve big problems with arcserve 7 for Netware.
After doing a backup successfuly I still can't see the files in the database, so that I can't restore them by the TREE wich is my prefered method.
Can anyone help me please ?

Regards

Peter

Try this. Go into the restore manager and choose "restore by session" so you can view all the tapes that are in the database. Choose one and drill down and see if you can actually SEE files under volumes that were backed up. If you can, that means A) your backup job is actually backing up files, B) the details from your backup are being merged into the database. If you don't get this far, you have a different problem.

Let me know the results. First things first I reckon.

In your backup jobs make sure you are "recording all session details".

If you don't then there will be no details about sessions backed up, automatically written to the arcserve database. You will then have to merge the tapes manually in order to select the files you want to restore

Is your BTrieve config ok? I can't remember properly but Arcserve stores the information in a file before it writes itto the database. My memory isn't too good but if you look in your Arcserve directory for any large files that should not be there, that indicates that it is not writing correctly.

Have you applied any patches to Arcserve from Are you getting any errors at all? -----------------------------------------------------

Hi,

Check if the cat files are merged in the database. If you find CAT files in the install directory\temp (normally c:\program files\computerassociates\Arcserve\temp), this means that the database is not up to date. If this is the case, try to restart the database engine. If this doesn't work, merge a session from tape. It can take a while before all files are imported into the database.

Hope this helps

Confirm you have applied all the patches from the CA website. Make all the configuration changes that CA recommend for Btreive and the BTI.cfg file. This is important as INETCFG loads btreive with the default parameters if you do not change your Autoexec.ncf as specified in the TIDS on the CA site.

You will need to rebuild your Arcserve Database and rebuild your MKDE log files dir. (SYS:\System\MKDE\LOGS) try a merge and watch the DBSCAN directory which is where the detail files are stored before they are merged into the AS DB. if these files are registering as 0.KB then you still have a problem.

I would also suggest logging a call with CA in your country as I had a call logged with CA for 6months and they had to send a TEcho out on site with me to resolve this issue. They also said it isnt an issue but this is the third post I have noticed that has atleast 2 replies with the same issue.
