Can not re-install AI 10. The compute locks at 80% during the message "Saving SVG viewer installer". The problem is not resolved after un-installing all Adobe programs and removing the {412033BC-44CF-48D9-B813-4B835101F4D3} file from the "Install Shield Installation Information" folder.
The same problem occurred on the second computer using Windows XP. I was able to install AI 10 only after re-formatting the hard drive and re-installing the OS.
Where is the problem?

Thanks

I have the same problem too. Someone out there must be able to fix it. I have tried the same processes you have mentioned - unsucessfully. It is very frustrating, isn't it?

I believe there is some sort of date issue with AI10. Have you tried simply changing the clock back to 2001 and then installing and then changing the clock back to 2003? I've heard of some limitation, but I don't have all the details.

No sorry thevillafeinn that not it, the year 2001 is something to get by the serialcheck for rippedcopies what i heard. Our problem is 80% in the istallation. When its says "Starting SVG Viewer installer..." then the cpu frezze

I am having the same exact problem. When the SVG installer gets to 80% it hangs. I figured out that it hangs on registering the ActiveX Controls for npsvg3.dll. I tried to register manually but not sure if I am doing it right. If someone is more fluent at computers than me, then they might be able to expand upon my research. Please give any research that you have come across regarding this issue.

This may be overly simplistic... or preaching to the choir..., but have any of you tried installing SVG viewer 3.0 from Adobe's site first, as a workaround? This may perhaps prevent the AI install from trying to update it after it realizes (hopefully) that SVG viewer is current.

BTW. SVG viewer is great... point your friends to it and they'll be able to see all your work online in vector glory!

Triska, yes I have tried to install the SVG viewer 3.0 from Adobe's site. That is what led me to realize it was locking up on registering npsvg3.dll. That was also when I went to task manager - processes in 2000 and the regsvr32.exe module was gobbling up memory and causing my machine to run slow. I found out that regsvr32.exe is a module used to register files such as dynamically link libraries. It seems like regsvr32.exe works fine with other dlls but with the npsvg3.dll problems occur.

Ah, yes... I have just learned this kind of similar info. on regsvr32.dll myself... with another unrelated service.

Let's see...

You can stop services using the Administrative Tools > Services... you might try stopping npsvg32.exe before you do the install.

You can do it manually too:

Run: cmd [enter]
regsrv32 /? (to see what your options are)

then it would be: regsrv32 /u /i npsvg3.dll

Or something like that... Check on MS TechNet or Support for how to unregister a .dll, and search for 'unregister npsvg3.dll' on google too.

That might be useful in combination with UnInstalling SVG from Add/Remove... as well as AI10.

Don't know if that might help.
