Hi all,

We have a small network where I work. We use a basic Access program to keep track of shipping and receiving data. All PC's have win98 except one which contains winme. On that computer it will state "Can not lock file" and the database will not open. It happens about 90% of the time. Any suggestions / comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

PS Access is setup to share the database on all computers.

I'm presuming that you have security set up on the database to get this message.

I had the same problem and the cause was due to the user not having read/write access to the drive on which the database was stored. This prevented the security lock file from being opened thus the database wouldn't open.

Check the properties of the directory by right clicking the folder in file manager.

Hope this helps

DKH,

I just want to thank you for the info. You were exactly right. I had 2 passwords set up on the share drive and gave the restricted password on this computer. Aaaaah so simple but yet so difficult. Once again thanks much and keep up the good work
