Hi guys,
I have a carrier remote shelf that was working for years and all of a sudden took a crap. I have done some troubleshooting on this but still end up with the same error. I basically can not enable the xpec for the remote shelf. This connection is made with a local carrier interface card in the main switch, and a remote carrier interface card in the far end switch, this remoter card acts like a controller card. I try to enxp 5, but end up getting sdl2110 reason 5, pswv failure.
Any ideas what this could be, I know theres a ton of things but I am thinking this is a switch problem and not physical connection issue.

haha I wish it was that easy. The loop (LCI card) comes right up and both cards pass their hardware card test, xntt and xpct, both pass. I changed out both cards LCI and RCI just for shits and giggles but still get sdl2110 reason 5! uhg!

There is a whole section on troubleshooting the carrier remote. Do you have any alarms on the faceplates of the cards?

The connection to the remote shelf is basically a copper connection which has been in place for a very long time. There is no carrier involved, which was my first thought. The connection goes from the LCI card, into a adtran csu, then into a rj45 to coax interface. The coax cables run to the upper floor. The remote shelf is in the same building, just two floors up from the switch room.
I have read through the troubleshooting guide and tried a few things, all pass except for the XCON loop back test, which wants the xpec card to be enabled!
Whenever I disconnect a cable I get the remote and local carrier alarms, plug the cables back in and the alarms clear, so I think my connection is good.
I am thinking I might need to INI?

faceplate on both cards just have the carrier 0 and carrier 2 lights lit on each end.
The RCI card is flashing C 0 / 0 0, which is normal when it's not enabled yet.
The RCI card also has the light on top red since it is disabled.
Thanks!

Those LED's being on is a Fault Indication, the carrier LED's should be off depending on how many links you are using

INI'd the pbx but still same crap!
Yeah so both link lights are lit, do you think this is a physical connection problem? Would it help me at all if I set up the MMI terminal? I do not have one readily available here ofcourse, so who knows if the MMI will even work!

I think it is a layer 1 issue, cable, hardware etc. MMI will work from any laptop with a serial port as long as the MMI cables are in place. Is it possible to bypass the Adtran and Coax and just run a Cat 5 up to the Remote Shelf?

My guess is you have had a failure in one of those Adtrans or someone cut the COAX

Sorry it's actually cat5 cables. Anyway, I can loop back these cards and the carrier lights go out, so I think my connection is good. I just swapped out my LCI card again, and now the carrier lights go out when connected, but I am still getting the same sdl2110 failure code.

I think I might take this option 11 cabinet off the wall and take it into the switchroom with a cross over cable and see what I get.

So I had a spare cabinet that we had for our last remote shelf, it is in the switchroom and I am getting the same thing! Changed out Two different Remote cards, two different local cards, two different csu's, INI'd, swapped cores, loop backs are fine (lights go out). This has to be a pbx issue, must need a patch or something..?

That is strange. How many phones in that loop? There is a move loop command if it is in fact a PBX issue. That would allow you to move say loop 4 programming to loop 8 if loop 8 is available. The other thing I would do is get the MMI up and working and see if that will tell you anything.

Good luck

I was thinking about moving this over to a new loop. Gotta move the I/O cable though since my next loop is 24.
I am also waiting for a new LCI card today to see if that helps.
Thanks again.

Moved Local carrier card to loop 60, with a new cable also and still get sdl2110.
