I have just changed my active directory to native mode.
I now have the problem that some old NT4 BDC's are still
showing in Active Directory Users & Computers under Domain Controllers.
When I add a new user to the domain they can not get access to the old NT4 BDC's, but the Win2k servers are fine.
I am unable to demote the old BDC's, and can not change their primary group to member servers in the active directory.
Is there any alternative to starting from scratch - one of the servers is the main file server for 150 users with a stupid number of shares on it (historic ones).
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Nick

get hold of a copy of the utility called UPROMOTE.
UPromote is the only software utility that can promote your NT server to an NT Domain Controller (PDC or BDC) or demote a PDC/BDC to a standalone server without re-installing the operating system.
