I can not connect to localhost... running Apache (IIS doesnt work either)... Although tomcat can access it through (port 8080 or something like that) I disabled my firewalls and virus protection... even disconnected by computer from the network...

What does your hosts file look like? Does it have an entry for localhost?

it has an index.html file... if that is what you mean I also tried to telnet localhost 80 and it cannot connect.

casperovjp,

What RandyRiegel was referring to is a file literally named "hosts". In Windows XP, you'll find it in c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and it usually contains only some comments and the single entry

localhost 127.0.0.1

casperovjp,

In your httpd.conf, what IP address and/or port is Apache configured to listen on?

Port is listening to 80... I run netstat -a ... I dont see any port 80... How do I make it listen to port 80....

I am using phptriad... it will install php and mysql... I also have the same problem when I was using IIS.

Active Connections

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP OCthree:http OCthree:0 LISTENING

This is from a working apache host... it is listening to http... on the one that is not working there is no entry
for http... I think that is my problem... Can anyone help please...

casperovjp,

I don't have any experience with installing/configuring/debugging phptriad. Maybe someone else does, and can give you some information specific to the problem you are having.

There is an open issue in the phptriad bug tracker at that describes the same problem, but this was posted 3 months ago, and does not appear to have been resolved.

Best of luck.

Thanks wishdiak!

For all the help. I'll check sourceforge if they might have something.
