I have a problem (guess that's obvious).

Version
Symantec Security Console version 1.2 / Symantec Anti-Virus 9.0.0.338

SBS 2000 SP3

Problem. Error "Can't communicate with the Server Group"

Another Thread references the following reg key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\LanDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\ScSComms\LocalData\LoginCaCertIssueSerialNum

However I do not have reg value: \ScSComms??

Can anybody advise?
Many Thanks
Phil.

Woops......should read"
"Can't communicate with the server group" !! :)

That key is only relevant to Symantec Antivirus 10.
For you I would check the following:

- ensure that the Symantec Antivirus service is up and running
- ensure that any firewall between the SSC and the SAV server is configured to allow all SSC related traffic
- upgrade to a later build of Symantec Antivirus 9 (You are using the STM build, and newer builds are much better)

Oggy

Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate on the Firewall settings between SSC and SAV?

Can you upgrade Free? Client just purchased version 9 in July on one year licence?

Many Thanks,
Phil.

Open ports (in SAV 8 and 9):

UDP2967 (bi-directional) between client and server
UDP38293 Used for the Symanectec System Center to discover servers (broadcast)

For more info:

... when you buy Symantec Antivirus, it usually comes with some kind of upgrade insurance. I would call Symantec's customer support to find out.
