I have a directory called uni and I cannot change the group name..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root nogroup 96 Nov 8 11:04 uni

I would like to have it root:sys - I am logged in as root.

the /etc/group looks like this for the nogroup

nogroup:*:-2:

any ideas...
thanks E.

Is this directory in an NFS-mounted filesystem?
If so, go to the NFS server and change group there.

Check the group sys, Is it exist?

Normally group "sys" must exist because it is the part of the os group
