Ok in the process of trying to fix another issue, now we cannot make outbound or receive incoming calls. It all rings as a fast busy. I most likely changed something and have no idea where to look. Any suggestions?

In this particular carrier box slots are as follows:
1 412 LS-TDL
2 024 TDL
3 016 TRR
4 100CSU-DSU
5 008 MLX-U

922 plugs into slot 1. It would be the second to top port which is #4. It comes out on slot 3 and from the bottom up it also lands on #4.

That should be 9222 plugs into slot 1. There is also a second carrier box which I believe is irrelevant but anyway it has two boards a 024 TDL and an 008 OPT. They would be slots 6 and 7 respectively.

OK - I'm confused. You say line 9222 plugs into the top port of 4-port group an the 412 TDL module (I assume the processor is right before this module - or do you have multiple carriers?. Is that correct? And is that a real analog line with dialtone?

As for the 016 T/R module. If the fax machine is plugged into the bottom port of that module - that's fine.

I don't understand what you mean by a cable goes from the bottom port of the 016 T/R and ALSO plugs into the same port that 9222 is plugged into. Are two cables plugged into the same port on the 412 TDL? If so - where is the line cord from the fax machine plugged in?

What I mean is that the actual analog line that correspond to the phone number xxx-9222 is what plugs into port 4, of slot 2 of the 412 TDL module (yes processor is right before this one).

What it does in Merlin from there I don't know, but I do know that it ultimately comes out through port 4 on that 016 because if I unplug it from there the fax line goes dead.

It is definitely a good working analog line going into the 412 TDL because if I unplug it there and test it, it works fine.

On this board the 412 LS-TDL in slot 1 I have the following:

Number Logical ID Type
804 4 line
803 3 line
802 2 line
801 1 line

Then it lists a lot of extension info in format:
Number Logical ID Board Type Adjunct Number

OK - if the analog line that goes to the 4th port on the TDL is indeed 9222 - then that line number should be Line 804.

Go into systems programming, start, lines/trunks, pools - keyin 70 enter, press entry mode and inspect and see what lines show up. Line 804 should not be in there. Ideally it should be a standalone line - not in any pool.

If that is the case, go to system program, start, extentions, lines/trunks, 559 enter, entry mode, press inspect and see what lines show up (Maybe 801, 802, etc.). If so press back and keyin 801 delete, press inspect - they should all be gone, press back and keyin 804 enter. Press inspect - and only 804 should be there.

Now go to menu, system program, start, more, centr-prog, program extentions, 559 enter, press button 4 (it should display as Line 804-I), press list feature, press autolineselect, press button 4 and press enter.

You should be set.

Eureka! We've almost got it. At the last part you said press button 4 and it should display as line 804-I. Well it didn't display as anything. But I went through the instructions anyway. I can call the fax now!! But... I've lost dial tone and can't call out. So we've kind of reversed problems.

I did your instructions from above and found that 804 is not part of pool 70.

Success! While re-reading I went through that bit you said about adding pool 70 and tried it out and we're done! Thanks a ton, you've been a tremendous help.

Ok somewhere along the line I also lost the ability to dial international. I get a fast busy. I read some posts here and found out about the del digits. Mine were set to 3 so I tried setting to 0 but still get same results. Showing my PRI here. Any ideas? I do have the ISP looking to in case the problems is on their side. I'd just like to make sure it's not something I did along with the above mess I made.

Normally - with a 5ESS switch setting - you should not be deleting ANY digits in the Special Services table. There are 7 entries - and you are deleting digits in 5 of them. However - you need to check with your Telco - and see if they want deletions. My guess is they do not. So you would need to reprogram those entries so the delete digits is set to 0.
