I have a basic cisco 2600 (IOS 12.2) and I am trying to set up an IPSec tunnel to another cisco peer. Looking online i found extensive documentation on how to configure this, only problem is that when i attempt step one, i get "Invalid input detected at '^' marker".

The first step is:
router(config)# crypto isakmp enable

Trying to do 'crypto isakmp policy' gives the same error. It does not recognize the 'crypto' command (the '^' marker is right at the 'r' in crypto).

Does my cisco support this? What do i have to do to enable crypto?

Thank you.

Not positive but you may need to get the "Cisco TripleDES Cryptographic Software" for 12.2 In order to get this you have to apply for it through cisco. Just got under the IOS 12.2 software index section and you will see a link under the reg. 12.2 to apply for this release.

I don't believe a basic system will support this without the IPSEC feature package. We setup IPSEC Tunnels and all of my routers have the IPSEC Feature Package that is loaded on them.

*end users are just like computers, some you can work with...others just need a simple reBOOTing to fix their problems.*

Check your image file name by doing a "show version". Check this file name against 3DES on Cisco's site to see if it supports it. Typically part of the file name will have "56i" in it. Then you do have to request your encrypted key from Cisco.
