I have internal network client setup as a VPN client. I would like to be able to VPN out through my Proxy Server 2.0 and connect to another server outside our network. Is this possible?

If I use a dialup, it works fine. But, if I go through the Proxy, I get error message 629: You have been disconnected from the computer you've dialed.

Urgently need answer asap.

Thanks in advance.

What does the log file say on client and server? Ports? Are you using any kind of NAT? What are the intermedetiary devices are between you and your security gateway? Could creating a text type Phase 1 id get you get past a FW or Load balancing device? Are you both on same "network"( internal IP add. scheme)?

MS Proxy Server does not pass PPTP packets - the server itself can be connect via VPN to the outside, but not an internal client. Check out the huge MS Proxy Server FAQ at:

for a better explanation than I could ever give.

Sorry for not getting back to you guys, but JDeanW is right. The Proxy Client will not pass PPTP requests through the Proxy Server, although the Proxy Server itself can make the VPN connection. According to MS tech, a possible remedy is to create a server-to-server connection using RRAS at both ends of the tunnel. Unfortunately, both ends of the tunnel must be using static IP addresses. I am using static only a one end of the tunnel. Only solution is get different DSL provider with static IP. Let you know after install is up and running with DSL.
