Can I use DLookup to do this?

I have two tables. One contains student details - name and grades (A+ to UG) for three different assessment tasks. The other table contains the grades and numerical scores for each grade.E.g A+ - 90, A - 80 and so on. I am trying to create a field which will show the average (in numberical value) for the three different assessment tasks. I can do it using nested ifs but it is messy. If it was done in a spreadsheet I could use VLOOKUP. Is there anything equivalent in Access.

Hi Beaj,

What your student table looks like? Is it like:
StudentName ¦Task1 ¦Task2 ¦Task3
Beaj ¦A+ ¦A- ¦A+
or
StudentName ¦Task ¦ Grade
Beaj ¦1 ¦A+
Beaj ¦2 ¦A-
Beaj ¦3 ¦A+

In Access there's a function DAvg, which will do this calculation easily, if your table is organised as the latter style.
