Ever since I installed internet explorer 6, the downloads take forever. They are very very slow and sometimes not at all and I have to disconnect and reconnect to the internet. I downloaded the patch but it is still not working very well. Is there a way to uninstall 6?
thanks!!

Go to Contol Panel, Add/Remove Programs and click on Microsoft Inetnet Explorer 6 and Internet Tools and click on Add/Remove. Then select Return to the previous Windows Configuration and click OK. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

Thank you no brain!! I will try this and be back in a while.

nobrain.......I followed your instructions but it when highlighted and I clicked on add/remove, it gave me two choices...either repair ie6 or add a component....it would not let me restore to the previous configuration. Any other suggestions?

Thanks filly 45

Have you tried a "repair" to see if that would fix the problems you are having with IE6? "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

If the repair doesn't help, and you still need to remove IE 6, read this thread and see if it works:

filly45,

Dangerous trick, you're on your own:

This is totally undocumented, but if your confident with your registry skills and you're running Win98SE and you want to restore or repair Internet Explorer and it doesn't appear in Add/Remove Programs or under the Tools Menu of System Information, then go to Start>Run, type regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\IE Setup\Options
Right-click on Options and choose new>DWORD value, name it AllowUninstall, right-click on it, choose modify and give it a value of 1.

No go back to Run, and type:
rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

Thank you nobrain....this worked well.....have a great day!!

reghakr....I didn't do the dangerous trick thing.....I thought that may a last resort manuver. I am fairly confident with my registry skills so I will attempt your suggestion. Thanks everyone for all the help.

filly45,

Actually it is a last resort, and since nobrain gave you a good link, there' no need to use it.

The typical error message is "there is no uninstall information, so uninstall will not proceed"

Not all that dangerous.
