Hi there. I am new to XP Pro and can't find where to turn off warning prompts.

For example, I have a user who prints with Crystal 9...and constantly gets a prompt asking if this is a trusted source. There is no check box to tick to say "Don't ask me this again."

I also get a warning message when I launch User Manager - saying the file could be malicious.

Although I appreciate this is a useful tool at times, how can I turn this feture off when we know things are safe?

Appreciate any advice/tips.

Thanks.

Well, I believe there is a enable/disable feature in "my computer/properties" that would allow you to turn off error reporting and various other system notifications. Your solution might be contained therein. If not, I'd keep searching around in the MS Knowledge Base or google.com.

Thanks for responding. However I don't see such an option within My Computer - Properties.

If you have any more advice on how to navigate to this option that'd be great.

I think I've had the same problem with opening network files etc.. The settings I changed were the Internet Explorer security settings. See if you can have a play in there and it may resolve the issue. Let me know how you get on.

Thanks

Thanks for responding ianicr,

I did have a look through Internet Explorer settings but again, didn't find anything appropriate.

HOWEVER, I did find something advice-wise days ago saying if the security option (within Internet Options - Advanced) "do not save encrypted pages to disk" is disabled, then this helps with opening pdf files from secure websites.

Our option was already disbaled so didn't help me on this occasion but useful for other people perhaps.

That is the closest I have found.

To navigate to 'Error Reporting' in 'System Properties', try this:

1) Either right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties' OR use 'Start > Settings > Control Panel > System'

2) Click on the 'Advanced' tab.

3) Click on the 'Error Reporting' button (just above the 'Cancel' button).

4) Select the 'Disable error reporting' option. I put a check mark in the 'But notify me when critical errors occur' checkbox but this is a personal preference.

5) Click on the 'OK' button then, at the previous dialog, on the 'Apply' button then the 'OK' button.

Hope this helps...
