Can I summarize the results of a maximum formula?

I'm using CR 8.5 and I've created the following formula:

Maximum ({query.principal}, {query.endowment_nbr})

and placed it in my group #1 footer. Is it possible to get a summary of this field? CR won't allow me to create a summary, grand total, or running total.

You can do it with a formula placed in the group footer:

Global NumberVar S;
S:=S+Maximum ({query.principal}, {query.endowment_nbr});
S

I was actually able to achieve my desired result by using a Running Total - Sum - Evaluate on change of group function. Thanks!
