Assuming there are 2 computers on a LAN that is also connected to the web, is there a way of sending a message direct to another person's Outlook Express inbox so that when he opens Outlook Express, the message is there waiting for him without having to click on 'Receive'

I want to avoid sending it via his regular email server so it works even when he is disconnected from the web but still connected to me via the LAN.

Also the web and the LAN might be two different Ethernet connectors on his computer.

I know the IP address of both computers, email account names and email passwords.

(It assumed they don't have automatic reading enabled)

What you are talking about is not emailing but a messaging service.

You have to remember what Outlook express is, its a client tool to access a remote mailbox. The mailbox is on a server which the mail is delivered to and from.

If you want to write a personal messaging service there are many samples on the web, which allow you to communicate directly to the user.
Regarding an email client which is pushed to rather than it pulling from a server, you may need to do alot of work and from what i can see not necessarily alot of benefit.

Have a search on google and you should find what you need.

Basically I am trying to add an entry to the other persons Inbox file even though they may not have their copy of Outlook express or any other application open on the receiving computer at the time the message was sent.

I suppose the problem is I wouldnt be able to "see" their inbox file due to security settings unless there is a way to directly get to their file even though I would have the1r password and account details.
