Sometimes when needed I find there have been no system checkpoints made when it would have been handy to have one/several. I understand that XP automatically makes them for some general reason such as installation of ceratain software and drivers but is it possible to have it do it regularly at the same time? It seems that it only keeps restore points for either a certain time interval or to data size limits so I guess having too many checkpoints would decrease the effective time coverage.. but I wouldnt think anything longer than a couple of weeks would be all that useful anyway, given that I keep weekly external full system backups..

There is a short vbs file "SetRestorePoint.vbs" by Doug Knox (look it up on google). You could put this in "Scheduled Tasks", and run it the same time everyday.

Thanks for the responses..

I opted earlier to go for the VB script and I notice that it is doing it very nicely... in fact both reboots today has brought on a rp..

Thanks for the advice..

Remember: every RP takes up a good chunk of hard drive. When using "Disk Cleanup" (native WinXP program), on the second page (click on "more"), you can clear every RP up to the last one.
