can i refer to a single layer of a swf file that I imported??

I'm importing a group of .swf movies with XML. I want to change the color of just one of the layers of this movie once it's imported. Is there a way to do that?

Not really, if the loaded .swf is not coded to allow it.

Well, this is what I'd like to do... I have a group of vector images that I've saved as .swf files so that I can import them with XML into my flash project. The images are all black & white. Once the images are imported, I want to be able to change the color of just the white part, depending on what color the person selects. but, i want the black parts to all stay black (because they're the outline of the image). Any ideas what would be the best way to do this? will i have to export it as 2 separate images??
