I have a problem with my BackUp, I use Veritas NetBackup in a Solaris server´s and I not found a backup since two weeks (my holidays), when i return to my office i found that a server is not backup because "Connection time out". And the redention time is a week.

Can I read directly tapes (command line or another method) for search in all tapes.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To search for files or directories on the tapes, you need to catalog each tape:

Insert the tape.
Click on the devices tab.
Right click on the tape drive and select Inventory.
This will complete in a few minutes and should display the correct tape name.
When complete, right click on the tape drive again and select catalog.
This can take a while depending on what's on the tape.

This will add the directory structure of the data on the tape to the restore tree. You will need to do this for all tapes you want to search.

When this is done, click on the restore selections tab.
You will see details of what is on each tape.
This is organised by selection and backup session which is a bit confusing at first, but once you find what you're looking for you can make the selection and run a restore job.

Hope this helps :)

Does is work if you have multiple data stream and Media mutliplexing ?

I know if you have single client, single stream and single tape, you can actually untar the 1GB files.
