Hi all,
I am new in Crystal Reports and I am rewriting our batch reports using Crystal Reports 8.5. I have 3 questions:

1. I know I can create parameters and prompt to users to enter value in Crystal Reports but I wonder can I create parameters and pass values from any "job scheduler"? Our batch reports will run at night and no one will enter values for "prompt".

2. Can I setup Seagate Info to pass values to parameters in Crystal Reports when scheduling jobs or I need to find other scheduler product to do that?

3. Does Seagate Info 7 work with Crystal Reports 8.5?

Any help is most welcome!!!

1-There are a couple of options to schedule - Crystal Enterprise, CrystalDesk, etc. MS Schedule works fine but does not fill in parameter fields.

2-Crystal Info will work fine and allows you to schedule multiple reports and multiple instances of the same .rpt file with different parameters.

3-Yes Software Support for Sage Mas90, Macola, Crystal Reports, Goldmine and MS Office

Minor clarification: SI 7.0 is not compatible with CR 8.x. SI 7.5 was the first version of SI to be compatible with CR 8.x.

Hi all,
Thanks for the information regarding to the job scheduler.

Can someone show me how to create parameters which will wait for scheduler to pass values instead of prompting for user to enter values?

Any help will be really appreciated.

If you are using Crystal Desk, you don't need to modify the parameters, because you don't run the report directly. You schedule the report in Crystal Desk, and it asks for the appropriate parameter values. It then stores them until the report is scheduled and then launches the report for you and passes the parameters. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

I've got cViewMANAGER, a report scheduler that works with Cr8.5 reports, and it takes the same appraoch as CrystalDesk - save the paramaters to use when the report is run...

But there is a mutlirun feature you might find useful as well. Run several copies of a report, and change a paramater and send to different email addresses. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear
