Hi there,

Please help me on the following question.

I'm currently using Paradox 3.5
I would like to share the working directory and data on the server of the network, and I've map that drive on each PC as f:, but it is not working.

Can I use Paradox 3.5 on network?
if yes what should I do to the settings?

Thanks

Barry

Barry,

3.5 will certainly work over the network.

BUT, before going down the road, if you're running 3.5 under any version of Windows, you're very strongly advised to upgrade to 4.02 - because 3.5 was not designed to run under Windows, and you may have crashes, damaged data, etc.

You should have received a "Network Admin Guide" manual with 3.5. It's 92 pages, so I won't be able to include it all here !. Also, there's a "User-Count" issue, and you'll need separate serial-nos for each user (I think). (And I think 4.02 is not as restrictive on user-counts, etc).

You'll need to decide on where the software resides for all users, and where each user's Private Directory resides.

Ultimately, you run a utility named NUPDATE to tell Paradox where your central NET file is; etc. And you must run the CUSTOM script, to configure additional LAN parameters.
