Hi everyone!

I have a problem. I wanted to make a brochure, but i didnt think the whole thing true, since i made A4-pages. The printing-shop cant make a brochure of this. Because a brochure (that's A4 when it's closed) needs A3-pages that will be folded. I used InDesign.

Is it possible to convert my 10 A4-pages to a brochure? And if so, how can i do this? I hope i wont have to remake the whole thing...

Thnks in advance!

maybe the word for what i need is: a CATALOG. If i check the templates, thats the same thing. It looks the same as how i did it. So maybe i didnt do it all wrong? I just need to know how i have to export it. I now just exported it to a pdf where all the pages are shown vertical.

...brochures/catalogues are typically made with the total number of pages bound together as multiple of four i.e. 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36 etc, etc...

...you have 10...

...your print provider will sort the imposition out when you have supplied the artwork as single pages, either pdf or in native indesign format...

...further problems can arise when artwork is built as readers spreads on a single landscape sheet for example as this requires more work to split the pages up...

...always supply your pages in single page format or single page spreads and your output provider will impose the pages as they see fit...

...as it stands you will have 2 blank pages, you need 12 unless you intend the inside back cover and inside front cover to be completely blank...

...to add further, you don't need to worry about imposition or chnaging your artwork to A3...

...if your print provider insists on you supplying imposed A3 sheets then I would find another print provider that has the capabilities of a flexible imposition workflow...

...if this isn't possible then you can utilize Indesigns Inbooklet feature if using CS2 (under the file menu). Just bear in mind that you will need to have 2 blank pages somewhere to make up the 12 page A4 required...

thanks guys!

So the only thing i did wrong was that i made 10 pages instead of 12 (or 8). I think it's just a lame print provider. He also told me he won't print PDF (less good quality he said). So i will make 2 more pages and ill find a better print provider.

Thanks!

...pdf can become a quality issue depending on source files used and also the actual pdf settings used to create them...

...again, if your print provider was much good they would advise you on the settings best suited to their workflow and in some cases provide you with a pdf settings file for distiller that can also be used for indesign, illustrator and photoshop export to pdf...

Hello

I need to create a multi page A4 document.

Each page is divided up into eight areas. Each area representing a step in an assembly procedure.

Each area will have a simple box graphic separating the text area and an area containing an instructional illustration.

The problem is that my client loves to make changes to these documents by .... including a new step, removing a step or moving and existing step to another part of the document.

Is there a way that I can set up an InDesign document so when a step is ..... added, moved or removed, that all the following steps move automatically so I do not have make all the adjustments.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

...have you considered making two documents perhaps?

...one that has place holder frames dividing your A4 page up into 8, this being the master document...

...then another document that has pages the size of one frame (i.e. 105mm x 74.25mm), export these pages as eps or better as a pdf using appropriate pdf and eps settings required for final output...

...working from left to right, import the images into each frame of the master (A4), then the next time amends are done, open the artwork that is used for export, make the amends, shuffle pages, add pages, remove pages etc, then export again and update the links in the master document (A4)...
