Our company is trying to resurect an old system we had built years ago. It was done in Powerbuilder 4.0. It still runs. In the past, someone had checked and found we would have to do incremental ugrades to get to current release. I think they said 5.02 was the next release, but there were limited copies being sold since it wasn't supported anymore. Can anyone give me some information on the probability of us trying to get the 4.0 up to the current release level, or should we consider building a new system?

You can use PB9.0 ....even though u have to change a lot but reduce a lot of scripting as so many new PB functions
are included along with multiuse etc.

good luck..

Odis,

Never throw an existing system to build a new one from the scratch! Of course, you can migrate directly from v4 to v9 (current). But you would do well spending some time fixing the obsolete functions and functionality by replacing them with the new functions and functionality (such as using the event arguments instead of the functions). There were a lot of new controls added to the core such as datastore, treeview, tab, statichyperlink... that you might want to explore. Replace DDLBs with DDDWs wherever possible...
