Can I forward a phone/ext. without having a set on at the number?

I have a user with an extension (242) that we have forwarded pretty much 24/7. Now it may seem useless to do this but she's had the number for years so we'd like to keep it that way. Is there a way to forward a number to another set and then disable the jack for it? Basically there wont be a phone at 242 but we want it to still forward calls to 318!

could you just set up 318 to answer dn 242?

Actually the 318 is like a community phone, 3 people on it. I may just move it though cause ya that would make my life a lot easier!
