Can I format a record in a field of a table base on CB selection?

I am setting up a time card type Table/Form I would like to have the time values entered into my table from the form to be negetive values if the user choses "back from lunch" or "clock out" in another combo box. Right now I have hidden text boxes that timestamp my record (I have done this to keep date and time in different fields) It would really be helpful if I can format the time base on the users selection in the other box, any suggestions?

Perhaps the DateAdd function ?
