I just installed ZoneAlarm 4 on my computer, and I'm hoping I can disable most of it (sorry ZoneLabs :-{).
Specifically, all I need it to do is limit access (by application) from my PC to the Internet - I have a hardware firewall that eliminates inbound access.
Basically, I want IE and Outlook to get out to the net, and nothing else (i.e. auto updaters, phone homers, ...). All the other functionality of ZA is getting in the way.
With thanks,
-Mike

It is usually not a good idea to run two firewalls due to conflicts that may arise. However, I know of many people that run ZA along with a hardware firewall without problem.

There is no way to just click and disable all incoming or outgoing traffic, but you can configure it to allow only certain apps to access the net. The only way to find out if it will cause problems with your configuration is to try.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

I use hardware(router) and Zone Alarm Pro with no problem. had problems with Black Ice.Use ZA internet lock and allow a access an key to you allowed programs.
