Can I cross connect my fax line to the BCM so I can use it for calling

I have a system with 2 lines. 1 line is main Business, and the other is fax & merchant services. The current system shares line 2 as a button appearance on the BCM as well as the other services.
Is this cool to do, or will it cause grief?

I may try to use analog port and add 9 to the fax machine and credit card machine, but I am not sure yet.

Grief, because does not show in use when not part of the system.

Lets say you had a lengthy fax coming in or going out and someone grab that line and dialed or pressed last # redial you would have some pages messed up or using for CC or POS couldn't get a connection while client is waiting in line.

Line sharing device is a possibility if you do not have analog station.

You could feed that line through the system ATA port back to the fax machine. Have it only ring there, and ring busy if the set is in use. Then set your fax machine to stack, or pool faxes in memory til a line is avaible if it's being used. This way nobody can disrupt your faxes.

What we do is connect the fax line to the BCM line 1 and then index the incoming/outgoing lines starting at line 2. I then rename them, for example, BCM line 61 would be named FAX, line 62 would be named Line01. I then use Feature *81 to move the lines for the desired order. We also create a Table 2 to answer that fax line with a greeting that says something like, "Thank for calling ABC company. If this is a fax please press the start key now." Of course, that is for manual faxes. I then go to Configuration>Fax Settings in CallPilot and put the DN of the ATA (for the fax)in. This will allow when the AA hears fax tone it will send the call to the fax DN.
