I am setting up a VPN between our 2 locations and both servers will be setup with a VPN Firewall and Windows Server 2003. I am wondering if it is possible to backup all the files from the Local LAN at each location to the remote Server of the opposite location?

Basically this is just to add extra file backup security.

Thanks for your help!

Possible within the confines of your bandwidth, keeping in mind that your VPN will likely be limited by the upload speed on each end.

You will probably find that the amount of time it takes to copy all of the data from site to site is not acceptable.

Thats what I told my boss--but he insists that we need to have this functionality on our network. Any ideas?

How much data do you have to backup? You're going to have to do some math. How much data do you have to backup devided by bandwidth = time needed. To shorten the time bandwidth will need to be increased, and that costs money. So the question is how much is it worth to have that functionality?

good luck
