Can I change the functional currency of an company

I am running multicurrency and one of my companies was setup originally with US$ as the functional currency while the reporting currency is Peso's. We have transaction history going back over a year and would like to change the functional currency to Peso's. If I try to change the functional currency I get the message "Activity for this currency already exists, the functional currency can not be changed".

Do I have any options other than creating a new company and starting from scratch?

unfortunately you cannot change the functional currency. You will need to start a new company.
