I need to add a button the Attachmate toolbar that will lauch a macro. I don't want to create a customer toolbar, I want to add it to the existing standard toolbar. Any help would be great....

Thanks,

Sure, just right click an empty space and choose "toolbars". Then edit the toolbar that is already selected.

Create a new button by pressing the "*" button, then double click the new button to bring up the properties.

In Categories, choose "macros", then choose "run macro" from the commands box. In the "Macro:" box select the macro you want to run.

You may also want to check out the "Customize..." button under bitmap as this will allow you to change the icon, or draw your own.

Also look at the "bitmap button" tab as you can select your tool tip string and even an accelorator key.

Good hunting...

That's cool calculus, but can I do it w/ a program. I would like to create an installation program to distribute a macro, and also have the installation create the button on the user's toolbar, w/o them having to do anything other than running the installation. I assume there is a way to manipulate the toolbar object, I just don't know what it is.

You can do what you're talking about, but it's pretty difficult. At our office we have 40+ people using Extra. All of them have the option of creating and using different toolbars.

What I've done in the past was to create the button as described above. This creates a file on your hard drive that Extra simply displays. During the program installation you can copy this file to the users hard drive thus giving them the "new" toolbar. The only unknown is whether or not it will be used on their machine.

Good info. To make things easier for me, do you know where Extra stores the file?

Depends on your version. Mine exists in:
"C:\Program Files\E!PC\Schemes\3270.ETB"

Most versions are pretty close to this same convention.
