make sure tcp/ip is bound to the dialup adapter you're using, make sure the settings match those given by your ISP (normally dyanically assigned IP address).

also, your winsock may be corrupted: try the winsock repair tool -

i have thesam problem like yours but eventhough i use winsock fix it didnt work :c can anyone help me?

The best solution for dataflow problems is simply reinstalling the TCP/IP and Dialup adapter (if applicable)

WinXP
Click Start >> Run,
Type CMD
Type netsh int ip reset c:\rlog.txt
Press Enter,
Type Exit
Press Enter
Restart
and robert is your grandmothers son

OR

Click Start >> Search >> For files and folders
Search for nettcpip.inf
Click more advanced options
Ensure search sub folders and search hidden files and folders is ticked
Click search
Right click on the file found
select install
Restart
It looks like it does nothing but it will work
and rob is your uncles brother

Win2k
Click start >> settings >> control panel
double click network and dialup connections
right click on the dialup connection
click properties
highlight TCP/IP,
press remove,
confirm the removal,
reboot
go back to the same place (as above)
click on add
select protocol
click add
select TCP/IP
click ok
let it install
reboot
And robert is your mothers brother

Win95/98/me
This one can be a bit more complex

On 95/98 and illegitimate ME you should ensure you have the Win CD or cab files. It will not work with the recovery disc. If you have or had zone alarm or you are on a network, contact your computer admin

Search for cabs

Click start >> find >> files and folders
search for win*.cab
make sure you have at least 48 files found
note the location
close

Now
click start >> settings >> control panel
Double click network
highlight on TCP/IP/dialup adapter
click remove
click dialup adapter
click remove
click Ok
restart

Click start
click run
type inetwiz
select connect using phone line
click next
if prompted for a location enter it as above
if prompted for a CD put it in the CD drive
click ok
it will now install the files
once finished select use an existing dialup connection
click next
click next
select no
click next
click finish
reboot
and again bob is your uncle

Oh yeah, the problem may also just be a firewall. If you have one disable it first and test

Thank you!!! - queball1 - reinstalling was the answer
I am using windows xp and could not send or receive email
thru my isp, but could connect to the internet without any problems.. you get an A+++++ Dell tech support and local isp support have not been able to figure this out for 2 weeks... Thank you again
