Hello,

I was told that Avaya stopped using remote access with a modem for a new office we are opening. I'm curious to know if anyone figured a way for the new equipment to be accessed via a modem as well as SAL or VPN? I guess old habits are hard to change and I'd rather do this a bit slower then being forced to..

Thanks all,

Jauser

SAL is now a requirement for CM6.x. Yes, you or your Business Partner can use VPN access or set up a device with Modem Access (such as an old Windows 2000 Server). Either way you are requried to have SAL for Avaya Support or you may be billed for time spent trying to access your systems.

The reality is a high speed internet connection is almost mandatory today with the size of patches and system templates. If you are concerned about security implement the Policy Server along with the SAL server.

Thanks Jimbo,

I'm sure we'll still go with SAL. I just like the thought of doing fast AMC work with my old ASA and modem. Its nice to know that we will be able to do both!
