when i apply a new SP for a TL, can I reject/uninstall it (without reinstalling system from mksysb image)?

Usually applied but not commited software can be rejected, but I've seen that when installing a complete SP or TL some packages doesn't stay applied, but they go to commited state. I don't know how and why, but I remember it's happened.
In this case you won't be able to reject the complete TL, and so some packages would stay at a higher level.

At least the bos.rte.install package used to go to COMMITTED state, as it needs to install before all the other packages. Othe packages should be available to be removed flawlessly.

You should always take a mksysb before making a change like this.

Typically it is not possible to simply reject a TL or SP but you may be able to back out most of the updates if you are lucky.

As MoreFeo, I have seen some big problems trying to reject an applied update so don't take a chance, take a mksysb instead.

MOST SP's can be unapplied, when you apply a TL many times some filesets get commited. Best case, when applying a TL make a mksysb or alt_disk_clone for backout.

But yes, most SP's can be unapplied..
