My problem is that I want to connect to the database resides in the server from where applet is loaded. Is it possible using JDBC only. It will be an internet based application so driver type-I or type-II can not be used. What are the alternates ?

Oracle has an "applet loadable" jdbc driver (thin jdbc driver). I do not know more about it, but you should try it.
You can do a free registration, then you can download...

Bye, Otto.
that's if you're using Oracle... but my guess is yes; the specifics do depend on the type of database you're using. I'd need to know that before I can tell you what your options might be.
Liam Morley
lmorley@wpi.edu
<a href=] :: imotic :: website :: [
"light the deep, and bring silence to the world.
Let for simplicity ,for small database, I am using Ms Access.

So you're saying you don't want to use the JDBC/ODBC driver?
Liam Morley
lmorley@wpi.edu
<a href=] :: imotic :: website :: [
"light the deep, and bring silence to the world.
