Can anyone help with &quot;Dial In&quot; problems on NT Servers.<br>
Actually dialing in to a Server and logging on is not a problem. The <br>
problem comes when I try to map drives. Some PCs are fine, others seem<br>
to have a mind of their own (especially laptops). I have configured many pc's<br>
to dial into servers, all can ping the server but not all can see the <br>
server when I do a search by either name or IP address. I even have one PC that<br>
can not see the server it is dialed into but can see the PDC and map to it.<br>
I am using a mix of Win95, Win98 and Workstation OS. Can anyone explain<br>
why this is and suggest a solution?<br>

A couple of things to check are:<br>

On the RAS server do you have &quot;Access entire network&quot; checked, or just that machine.<br>
<br>
Most of all--do you have the lastest dial-up networking upgrade from Microsoft? There's an upgrade for 95 and 98 (separate files). They make a big difference. For 95 it's a file called msdun13.exe. For 98 I'm not sure--there's a 40-bit encryption update called dun40.exe. Both available on Microsoft's site. You actually get a TCP/IP upgrade on the 95 update with the dialup upgrade.<br>

Also check the protocols being used on the servers and clients--check the dun profile on the client and experiment with &quot;PPP&quot; and &quot;NT3.51&quot; dial-up settings. Try adding netbeui on both client and server.<br>

Check your security, as well.

Another thing is make sure you have IP forwarding truned on on the RAS Server.

I agree with Mrgeek... I believe that your Wins and or DNS is not resolving the name and IP address efficently.<br>
