Can anyone help with &quot;Dial In&quot; problems on NT Servers.<br>
Actually dialing in to a Server and logging on is not a problem. The <br>
problem comes when I try to map drives. Some PCs are fine, others seem<br>
to have a mind of their own (especially laptops). I have configured many pc's<br>
to dial into servers, all can ping the server but not all can see the <br>
server when I do a search by either name or IP address. I even have one PC that<br>
can not see the server it is dialed into but can see the PDC and map to it.<br>
I am using a mix of Win95, Win98 and Workstation OS. Can anyone explain<br>
why this is and suggest a solution?<br>

I had a similar situation where some workstations could map a drive nad others couldn't the one's that couldn't were 95 and 98 machines. All the machines could ping the resource. I think it was a name resolution issue between netbios and dns.. One machine was fixed using an updated winsock file. The 98 machine was partially fixed by editing the lmhost file with the server name and using the #pre tag.<br>

I would also check the networking properties. make sure there are no uncessary protocols binding to the dial up adapter,and make the prominant protocol the default protocol.

Make sure you have MSDUN13 on all your '95 machines. We disable lmhosts lookup on all our machines. Our WINS is done through DNS and everything is DHCP. Seems to work well.

i had problems on some workstations seeing a server. try using [nbtstat -RR] @ the command prompt from the server, this seem to resolve name resolutions between the wins and dhcp server.
