I am VERY new to Cognos Impromptu and when I try to run a specific month in 1 specific report, I get this generated answer.
Error number -237:

DMS-E-GENERAL, A general exception has occurred during operation 'asynchronous open'.
DMS-E-MATHEXCEPTION, An arithmetic exception was detected.
EXPENG-E-ZERO_DIVR, <Floating point> divide/mod by zero is invalid.

I use the same format for every other month of the year and they run fine. Any ideas?

Yup,
There is a calculated field in the report which is, as per the error message, attempting to divide a number by zero, either as a regular division or a modulo or an integer divide.
If you are the author of the report, put a conditional on the denominator - e.g. IF(COST = 0) then (NULL) else (SALES/COST). Otherwise, refer it back to the report author.
Note that the calculation may not be in the body of the report, but could be in the conditional formatting.

Unfortunately, I am not the original author of this report and, that person no longer works here. Any suggestions on how to find where the error might be?

You could try running the SQL generated in a SQL analyser to identify the field causing the error (search the forum for 'Magic' to find how to produce the SQL).

Assuming the error isn't coming from a formula in a View in the database, you could check through each line of the report to see where there is a division and change the denominator to '1' to test.

Don't forget to check the conditional formatting formulas.

Sorry I can't offer more help than this.

Happy Friday,
lex
