I am not sure what you are trying to pass. SInce CR uses the SQL to control the data it needs and the grouping, you have little control.
You should be able to further filter your report by using a "Selection Formula" and passing it to the report. This would can be done by most methods used to create the report (.ocx, CRPE32.dll, CPAut32.dll, CRAXDRT.DLL, etc.)
