Can AIX do IP masquerading?

I am trying to find a way to do IP Masquerading (like linux does).&nbsp;&nbsp;I want<br>to be able to use my AIX machine as a gateway, so it can provide internet access to my personal network.&nbsp;&nbsp;Is there an easy way to do this, maybe I need to setup some special routing?<br><br>Any ideas would be great.<br><br>Kimo

if you are trying to set the aix server as a gateway, you will need to turn on ipforwarding. You do this by running <br>no -o ipforwarding=1 on the command line. To retain this setting on system bootup, vi /etc/rc.net and put in /usr/sbin/no -o ipforwarding=1 at the end of the file.

I have done this, but that can't be all I need to do (as I am still unable to get out onto the internet from inside my network).&nbsp;&nbsp;I know that IBM has a Firewall program, but I am wondering if there is some freeware type program that will do the same thing (of course very limited).<br><br>Kimo

Hallo, I'm having the same problem than Kimo. I would like to use my AIX server as a masquerading gateway. I find that the answers of Odey and Mike are useful for what concerns routing, but what about masquerading?

I am also trying to do IP masquerading under AIX,
can you tell me how did you make this work?

I ve tested do masqu with implementing a Ip security Tunnel between 2 Aix sever... it work , but it doesn t make masquerading....

You can try setting Squid proxy in your AIX box. I know it's not the complete solution for you all, but may be is good enough.
I hope it works...
