OK, I may have messed up badly here.

Had a CP150 that would not come up after a reboot, so I used the XFTEST trick to wipe out feature codes and reboot.

Problem is...I forgot to unplug the CP150 first.

Now it still won't come up, and I'm wondering if I messed it up by clearing those codes with it connected.

Have I messed up?

Are you getting any lights? If you are getting lights on the left and not the right, its probably the power supply. I have had this happen many times (after a reboot). I don't think the XFTEST is preventing the CP from coming up.

Running XFTEST with the CallPilot plugged in will not cause any damamge. Usually you unplug the CallPilot to make the feaute code inactive so you can remove. Since you were able to remove the CP feature codes while it was plugged in just proves you got some problem preventing the CP and Norstar from seeing each other.
Follow Brian's suggestion and boot while attached to the serial port.
You could also try metering the output voltage on the power supply. If its not putting out exactly what the rating is on the sticker, replace it.
In a pinch a RAD power supply will work.

just a note about the power supplies for callpilot 100/150
the older one (9volt) will meter correct voltage but the system will not boot the light will come on but will not boot
the power supplies blow and give half the amperage this is why the lights work but nothing else

the easiest test that i use :
plug in power supply , and watch the port leds if they stay solid replace power supply to the newer 8 volt unit,
if the leds flicker (after a few minutes) it should be booting properly

THANKS for the responses. Current PS is an 8v, but I tried another 8v from a CP100 with no change.

Light status after bootup is 10/100 solid, network blinking (I can ping it's IP), no other lights on...(so I'm getting NO lights on left, only two lights on right).

It seems to be hanging on boot. Here's what I see from Hyperterminal:

It just stops there.

This thread is where I started:

Was prepping for the reboot, accidently killed power to one of the two M0X16's (ports for the CP150 were NOT on it). Powered it back up and the system locked up. Rebooted entire system (MICS, 2x M0X16, CP150) and CP did not come up. Tried XFTEST (with CP150 plugged in) and now were at the start of this thread.

Any more ideas?

What s/w level of CP are you running? I didn't see the normal printout of the PCMCIA card info as it usually is displayed.

It's a 3.1. I tried to use a card from another CP running 3.1 to "upgrade" the software...it still hung afterwards at the same spot.

I booted it off the other card (yep, I'll be entering keycodes and reprogramming) and it came up fine. Looks like the software card is bad.

Now here's hoping Nortel will cough up the keycodes to get back to 100 VM boxes from 20. :( (Bought it refurbed with 100 boxes already in it).

if you still have the original keycode it may still work (if the sn hasn't changed

Problem is, system was bought refurbed and the VM keys were already in it. I do have the Call Center Codes.

I have the vendor trying to get the codes from Nortel.

What does it say in maintenance? does it see the CP on those ports?

Try power down, unplug network patch cord, check mod cords to the ksu, remove the feature codes again and turn CP back on.

Is it on a APC? if not maybe try another power supply too anyway.

curlycord--Sorry, we already defaulted the CP with another software card. I will tell you that the feature codes never made it back into the system with the old software card in it. We did try it once without the network card. We also plugged a phone into the first station port the CP used and the port was good.

Vendor could not retrieve codes, but they gave us a 1 year warranty *360* days ago when we bought it. :)

They are shipping me another CP150 with 100 VM boxes and Basic Call Center license. (EDIT...it just arrived!)

Yippee I get to program ~45 mailboxes and a call center.

And Brian, I WILL back it up once it's programmed! It...had...never...been...backed up. You'll be happy to know my working CP150 on the other MICS was backed up yesterday morning!

Is there a good FAQ out there for automating backups using the CallPilotBRU.exe utility?

No FAQ's in the forum.

Been a while but suggest to ask the sites I.T. dept to creat a folder on the network for this to be accomplished.
Pretty simple if I recall.....just run it and put in the location of the folder to save.

150 - 85 megs max

Do not use any manager setting while in progress.

Its all in the Installion and Maintenance guide.

Thanks curlycord...should be no problem getting the sites IT dept to do that, after all, that's me! :)

Hmmm...noting my own sig, and I think this time I AM learning from my own mistake (no backup).
